Glycerophosphat wird im Plasma zum grössten Teil unter der Einwirkung von alkalischer Phosphatase in biologisch aktives anorganisches Phosphat umgesetzt. Aus Studien an Patienten geht hervor, dass praktisch alles Glycerophosphat zu anorganischem Phosphat hydrolysiert wird.
